Half butterfly pose is a forward fold with one leg bent and the sole of the foot placed along the inner thigh of the opposite extended leg. As you set up draw your bent knee out but turn your torso towards either the center or your extended leg. Tilt your hips forward and you can round forward once you have reached your maximum edge but keep space in the diaphragm. If you have an exaggerated thoracic curve (kyphosis) keep your back straight. Allow your neck to hang unless it creates strain and in that case support it. Elevate sitting bones if you have tight hamstrings or low back. For trouble in the knees or a pulled hamstring engage the quads and or place a cushion under the knee. On an inhale come up extend your legs and lean back.
